The Duca di Dolle vineyards are located on the steepest but most fascinating slopes of the DOCG, the natural habitat of the Glera, Verdiso and Perera vines. All the vineyards consist of real “Rive“, namely vines located on steep slopes with reduced yields per hectare. They give rise to Prosecco Superiore DOCG, the top of the quality pyramid of the Prosecco world. The production area is located in the Veneto region, 50 km from Venice, in the hilly part of the province of Treviso, between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, at an equal distance from the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, a combination that positively influences the climate. A difficult area to cultivate but fascinating, a unique landscape marked by steep vineyards and natural vegetation, rich in historical and artistic evidence, from 2019 a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The DOCG encompasses fifteen municipalities with a total of around 6,000 hectares of vineyards, 100 of which are in the Cartizze micro-production zone in the municipality of Valdobbiadene. Through its extraordinary history, Conegliano Valdobbiadene has built, over time, the success of Prosecco, appreciated and loved all over the world.
Rive DOCG
Duca di Dolle wines can all be classified as “Rive”, i.e. the fruit of vines situated on steep slopes and with low yields per hectare. There is one in particular, however, that is the true ambassador of our land. Thanks to the composition of the soil and the particularly favourable exposure, as well as the very advanced age of the vines, we have created a Prosecco Extra Brut of great character and complexity.
Cartizze DOCG
Cartizze is a very small hilly area, also known as the Pentagono D’Oro (Golden Pentagon), which extends for about 1 km in the Treviso area, specifically in the municipality of Valdobbiadene, between the hamlets of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol. It is a “cru” of great value and superior quality, thanks to the microclimate and the characteristics of the soil.
Duca di Dolle owns a small plot of Cartizze in Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene. This is where the two “Grand Cru” of Prosecco DOCG are produced, the jewels in the crown of Duca di Dolle.
Rosé
The Pinot “Riva” is among those with the best exposure of the entire Duca di Dolle estate: an unusual grape variety for this area but one with great potential that gives rise to a unique rosé.
